We need you to be bold. Brave. Dauntless. Fearless. Hopeful. Valiant. Good. Goodhearted. Patient. Kind. Compassionate with yourself and others. Strong. Courageous. Humble.

We need you to tell the truth so loudly that the earth hums. We need you to give a hand because no one else is. We need you to open up because everyone else is closed. We need you to sing louder, hope longer, breathe deeper, be stiller than anyone else, because we need you to be there, be transparent and strong and mutable and hope filled because we need you to move and shake the world.

We need you to create, because only you can create the book/play/sculpture/casserole/glued-together-thing/orgasm/poem/story that you're creating. We need it in the world, and we need you to put it there. We need you to create, because others tear down. We need you to have the courage to create, we need you to find the strength to create, we need you to create, because we need you to move and change the world.

We need you to be kinder, to be non-negotiable, to be resplendent in your boundaries and resilient in your openess. We need you to shout out against injustice, and we need you to act more like love and less like tolerance, and we need you to spread across the world that we're all equal and beautiful and that, together, we can move and rebuild the world.

We need you to know your inherent worth, to acknowledge that--even in your brokeness--your strength shines through, that hearts can be rebuilt, that the saddest stories build better ones, that you are not voiceless and worthless and nothing, that you are--in fact--capable of shaping and changing the world.

We need you to tell the stories that are not told. We need you to find the strength to create when the world asks you to destroy. We need you to dance faster, dream higher, hope deeper, love fiercer, because you are the only person who can create/do/be the thing/act/person you need to, and we need you and only you can find the strength and courage and passion and fire to shape and change the world.

We need you, creators, singers, writers, poets, dancers, world-makers, storytellers, beautiful, bright creatures, to change the world because no one else will.

We need you to create. To love. To sing.

We need you.

Please.

Sunday afternoon was rainy and cold and perfect for drinking copious amounts of tea and sitting together, snuggled with several kitties and puppies under crocheted blankets on the loveseat.

I'd stayed up until two thirty that morning, finishing my novella, Sugar Moon. Its release day is a week from today (EXCITEMENT!), and I was all basking in the glow of creating something I was extraordinarily happy with. Jenn and I were talking about the non-fiction book I'm currently working on, too (really, you probably know what it might entail, but--for right now--I want to keep it a bit of a secret until I get closer to finishing it~ Totally superstitious, I know! <3), and I was like, wouldn't it be great if we could do something extraordinary with the concept, beyond making it a book, almost making it...real...and Jenn's eyes flashed this brilliant, bright blue, and she said an idea that made both of our hearts leap--a Glamourkin idea.

When Jenn and I came up with Glamourkin, it was a very organic process. We said a few things back and forth, and suddenly, she said: "wouldn't it be great if we took old fairy tale books and made collaged pendants out of the illustrations?" It was instantaneous. We stared at each other, those years ago, our eyes wide, and we knew that the divine had come into our midst and touched us, and we knew we had to do it.

The idea on Sunday was a Glamourkin idea, not about Glamourkin, but given in the exact same way. One of those pivotal moments of life where everything is right and perfect, and you know exactly what you have to do to get where you should go, and you feel that everything is as it should be, and you will always accomplish what you're meant to, and that the Goddess believes in you.

Which is the most humbling, extraordinary thing in the entire world.

We stared at each other for a long moment, and then I started laughing, and we started furiously scribbling notes and coming up with timelines and figuring out the logistics of this really effing huge project, and we were like giddy kids being delivered to the Greatest Playground Ever Created, and we couldn't write fast enough, and when it was all done, we stared at our notes and at each other, and we knew something holy had happened, and we didn't know what to do with it, and we were so grateful we sat in silence, and we threaded our fingers together, and we just were.

In the beginning of August, something is coming. Something extraordinary, something that I hope will touch you.

(And holy shit, I hope we can pull this off. SO MUCH NEEDS TO HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN. Wish us luck? <3)

I wanted you to be the first to know. <3

So, I'm sure you all remember that in October of last year, my amazing and wonderful wife, Jenn, quit her corporate job where she'd been berated, ridiculed and made to endure bullshit every single day for five years (no, I'm not still angry she had to endure such stupidity and pissed off at those people, whyever would you ask? :D :D :D).

She. Was. Free.

For the first month or so of her new found freedom, Jenn worked on Glamourkin, spent time with our animal behbehs, and just generally enjoyed her life--something she'd been completely unable to do up until this point. She transformed completely--this coming from the person who knows her best--and her vibrancy grew until it almost outshone the stars. She figured out what she wanted to do with her life, right now, right this very minute, and began to make steps toward that.

Jenn's greatest dream was two-fold: one was to be a writer, the other was to work with flowers. She's burned out on the writing gig, and we thought and thought about the flower thing, while every day for years, I've worn the incredible flowers she's made me in my hair.

"I could do that," she said with a sparkle, with a glow, with a joy. "I could hand make flowers."

So she did.

Every day since, for the past two months, Jenn has gotten up bright and early in the morning, and worked on her blossoming (every pun intended) Etsy shop. After several snags earlier in the week, it finally opened today--the grand opening of my beautiful baby's heartfelt, heartsung venture: Garden of Antheia~

Antheia was a grace of flowers, a smaller known aspect of Aphrodite, Jenn's matron Goddess.

I know I'm biased, and you can take this for a grain of salt, or a bushel of it--but every single day, I wear one of Jenn's floral adornments in my hair. Every day, I have people stop me while I walk, or in the grocery store, or randomly with a smile, and ask me where I got such a beautiful flower--and I tell them. Each flower means something different, has a different energy to it, is a magical, precious, spellbound thing, and I love each one with every bit of my being. Also, every single petal--unless otherwise noted--is hand made, hand sewn, hand singed. Rare, beautiful creatures~ <3

When Jenn makes something, she puts her entire heart into it. This is a free heart, and a heart filled with love. She's put everything she has into the opening of this Etsy shop, and it shows. I have never been prouder of her, and I am thankful and acknowledge my blessings every single day that I am her wife. She is an incredible person, a goddess incarnate, and she is doing amazing and precious things with her life. I love her. I'm so proud of her, I could burst.

So, today, please consider visiting the Garden of Antheia, looking through the beautiful blossoms, please consider spreading the word or supporting such a love-filled endeavor...here, you will see magic, made. <3 <3 <3

(I'm wearing my version of Adele today, and DO NOT YET OWN A VERSION of Brigid's Charm and Oh Sweet Witchery, the flower Jenn made with me in mind. *coughcoughBabyIWouldReallyLikeSuchaThingThankYoucoughcough* XDDDDDDDD)

So, yeah! Remember seven months ago, when I was all like THIS THING IS GREAT AND COMING SOON, and then it never came?

She's here~ <3

After five thousand layout changes, post re-dos and second guesses, I have FINALLY launched my blog project, MuseRising.com--I hope you love her as much as I do. <3

I'm going to talk about creation, accomplishing what you want to do in your life, witchcraft, the Goddess, minimalism and creating the life you want to, all in hopefully poignant, somewhat dramatic and slightly hilarious bits. We'll see if I can manage that. ;D

I have made the first of two posts of Goddess icons at [livejournal.com profile] ohsweetwitchery--these are of various images of the Divine Mother. They were made as a thank You to Her, and a public offering of gratitude~ :) <3
