...but I'm just too gosh-darn excited to not talk about it right this very minute, so even though my eyes are ACTUALLY BLINKING SLOWLY I AM SO SLEEPY (I feel like such a cartoon right now), I wanted to mention that I've written ALL DAY, and I'm SO CLOSE to being finished with SO MANY THINGS. I feel like I'm multiply pregnant, and will be giving birth multiple times over the next few days. :P AH, METAPHORS.

Love Devours: Tales of Monstrous Adoration is so close to being done. I finished-finished-finished the short story "Seek" today (you can see its cover and a bit about it on my Tumblr!). "Seek" was the first story I came up with for the anthology, and I'm very, very pleased with it. :) IT IS VERY DARK AND WEIRD, and it came out exactly as I'd wanted it, too, after a LOT of wrangling, and a lot of bleary tearing-out-hair-and-staring-at-the-computer-screen. :P That leaves three other short stories to get all polished up and ready, "Our Lady of Wolves," "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" and "The Forever Star." AND THEN IT IS FINISHED! *confetti*

I am SO close to being done with The Bone Girl, I'm all weepy I didn't get it done today (I'm shooting for Monday as an official THIS IS THE PARTYING AT THE END OF IT day). Also, I'm coming along with One Beltane Morning (the second book in the Benevolence Tales series, the first being One Solstice Night), I should hopefully be done with that at the end of this week, and Jenn and I are underway on Alight, the sort-of-but-not-really-but-it-is-set-in-the-same-world-sequel to The Dark Wife. *breathes out* And that's the stuff I've been working on these past few days, ladies and gentlefae--there are so many other projects going right now, but those are my primary focuses. I am SO excited to be able to finish The Bone Girl and get Love Devours out, and I do NOT LIKE TO PROMISE THINGS, but I MAY mention Ragged and "been working on it" in the same sentence.

This is shaping up to be a very, very book-full summer. <3

And now, I am getting unable to string coherent sentences together, I am so VERY TIRED. So, to sleep! Perchance to dream! For in that sleep of a queer-lady, what dreams may come will be lesbian-fairy-tale filled and sparkly.

Good night. <3

My wife, author Jennifer Diemer's, novella Seven, the third novella of our Sappho's Fables (Lesbian Fairy Tales!) series, is released today! Seven is a lesbian version of Snow White~ <3 (And is BEAUTIFUL. <3)

The strange witch girl Neve has skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and a dark secret. Her father Lexander, an alchemist, harbors an evil obsession, and Catalina, his newest bride, made the grave mistake of becoming his wife. When Catalina finds herself falling in love with his daughter, Neve, instead, the deepening bond between the women sets in motion the final chapter of a story that began long ago, with a desperate longing and a handful of apple seeds. Together, Neve and Catalina must venture into the Huntsman's haunted forest to undo what has been done and set themselves free.

Two days after I told Jenn "I love you" for the first time, a thick envelope arrived in the mail. It was about five or six printed-out, neatly-folded pages of a novel she was working on, entitled White. It was intoxicating. Across the space and divide between us, words spanned and had begun to build a bridge. Through fiction, through poetry and music, two women who were many miles apart shared in a connection that was otherworldly. Our love began with stories, seeds planted from our heads and hearts that grew, invited, entwining across the space and divide to spiral our spirits together verdantly.

I read White laying on my stomach on my bed, the snow outside silent and hushed as I read over and over the pages of a novel that had bewitched me utterly. The tracker girl, Kyle, the mad-man and the castle and the quiet girl in search of a beast, and love growing between the girl who bore secrets and the girl who was skilled in finding them. It was weird. It was intense. It was fucking beautiful.

It was also never finished. And it broke my heart. Every day, I keep my unwavering hope and faith that someday, somehow, I will get to read that novel.

Jenn went to college for writing, and graduated with top honors, with accolades and whispered mentions of how great she had become, how much she would be able to accomplish with her fiction. And, after that, she stopped writing. There are many reasons, and it's heartbreaking, because for years and years, my wife wrote not a word.

Writers can not be forced, begged, cajoled or asked to change their writer's block or writing habits. They must choose when they decide, if they have been blocked, to pick up the pen or the laptop again. But I held the space for her, of how deeply I loved her writing, how it was a crime to humanity that she'd stopped, and how I hoped with every last part of my heart, that she would write again.

And then, Sappho's Fables came along. The only writing she'd done in this time was the old lesbian fairy tales we'd done together, and when we started talking about redoing them as a novella series...she was excited. I was ecstatic.

And so it went.

The first volume, I had two novellas, she had one. "Snow White," one of her favorite fairy tales, was retold. Some moments were painful (as anyone recovering from writer's block can attest), but as the days went by, as she went to the page, day in and out, everything else fell away. And my beautiful, amazing, beloved wife finished her first novella. Seven, a lesbian Snow White, is done, and will be released Thursday. <3 <3 <3

Today, I read the novella for the last time--the fully edited, feature-length motion picture edition, if you will. :) And I was floored.

I've known my whole life what an amazing writer my wife was. But all that I've known before is incomparable to what has come, now, to what has opened up within her, and what has begun. The novella is intoxicating. I have wished forever and forever and forever for a story about magic and beauty and pain and darkness, and for a story about a girl like me, with a love that could consume you, heart and soul. And, in every hope for such a thing, I have been disappointed. Nothing in the world is comparable to Seven, and that is an amazing, wondrous thing, because it is filling a hole that needed to be filled.

To be able to overcome something so serious as a writer's block that has lasted almost a decade, and to debut with something so incredibly beautiful, is an accomplishment that is deep and lovely. I am so proud of my wife, so proud to be her wife, so proud and humbled to work on these projects with her. <3

Seven was only the beginning. Now, the novel A Currency of Roses begins...a novel written by my wife that is going to forever shift the face of Gay YA. And who knows? Maybe Currency will, eventually, someday, lead to White.

I know I'm her wife. I know I'm supposed to be her biggest fan. I know you're probably thinking, "Sarah, that's sweet, but your opinion doesn't count and can't possibly be valid, as you're so close to her." But when you read Seven, you're going to understand. You'll see. <3

Until Thursday. <3

A lot of people ask me: "Sarah, I'm really excited about your XXXX novel(la), when is it coming out?" I am HELLA HAPPY that you're so psyched about something my crazy-and-slightly-unicorn-filled mind came up with, so I thought to myself: SELF, PERHAPS YOU SHOULD MAKE A USEFUL LIST OF SPARKLY THINGS WITH TENTATIVE DATES ON THEM SO THE PEEPS CAN BE KEEPING TRACK INSTEAD OF HAVING TO SEARCH OUT INFORMATION LIKE AN EASTER EGG HUNT.

Hence, this list was born. <3

I hope to put this out on a bi-weekly, status-type-thingy basis, so people can keep track of the novels/novellas/short stories/sparkly bits they're most looking forward to!

If you have any questions, ask me! I'd love to answer. :)

Coming Soon (As Sarah Diemer):

The Bone Girl (Novel) -- Gay YA, dystopia/dark speculative fiction. Will hopefully be released at the end of June--a tentative date we're shooting for is June 26th. Read the synopsis/add it on Goodreads here!

Marrow Moon (Novella) -- Lesbian fantasy. Second in the Maja Trilogy, shooting for a June release date!

Sparkle Princess Were-Unicorn (Short Story Collection) -- Gay YA, speculative fiction. Shooting for a release date on my birthday, July 6th. :) Read the synopsis/add it on Goodreads here!

The Dream Queen (Graphic Novel/web comic) -- Gay YA, speculative fiction--a lesbian retelling of "A Midsummer Night's Dream!" Written by me and illustrated by the incomparable Stephanie Blackwell, the collaboration begins (the first page is released) on Midsummer, June 20th!

Coming Soon (As Elora Bishop):

Sappho's Fables, Volume 1 (Novella Collection) -- Lesbian Fairy Tales! This collection will contain Crumbs (Hansel and Gretel), Braided (Rapunzel), and Seven--both Crumbs and Braided are released, and Seven should be released at the end of May, so that's when we're hoping to release the collection, too! :)

Shimmer: A Lesbian Rumpelstiltskin (Novella) -- Part of the Sappho's Fables series, fairy tales retold from a lesbian perspective! We're shooting for a June release for Shimmer-- it starts the second volume of Sappho's Fables!

In the Farther Out Stages (As Sarah Diemer):

Ragged: A Post-Apocalyptic Fairy Tale (Novel) -- Gay YA, dystopia. I'm actually (crazily) re-re-re-writing this with a July release date in my head. Lesbians, fairies, the end of the world--it's my most anticipated release, and the one that I've worked the hardest on, and I'm hoping it continues to be nice to its author. ;D <3

Twixt (Novel) -- Gay YA, dark speculative fiction. Twixt is The Bone Girl's sister novel--not that they're in the same universe or are remotely similar, but I came up with their plots I think...two days apart? And have been working on both for roughly the same length of time (about five years). I have a tentative release date for August for this one, and it will probably be pushed back--out of everything I've ever written, this is my absolute favorite.

Burning Moon (Novella) -- the third in the Maja Trilogy! Shooting for an August release date!

Keeping the Moon (Novella Compilation) -- Sugar Moon, Marrow Moon and Burning Moon (in other words, all three novellas of the Maja Trilogy), gathered in one volume--this will include a print release! Coming August 31st!

Love Devours (Short Story Collection) -- Dark Speculative Fiction. I'm about half-way through with the stories for this volume, but keep pushing off the release date, due to other projects. I'm hoping September or August on this one!

In the Farther Out Stages (As Elora Bishop):

One Midsummer Day (Novella) -- Lesbian Fantasy/original fairy tale. The second installment of The Benevolence Tales! I'm looking to a June release date on this one, but it may have to be pushed back--I'm hoping not to!

(Please note: these are just projects that I've announced--there are actually lots of other things I'm working on, but haven't made a peep about yet! Watch this space for other sparkly things~)

My novella Braided, the second novella of our Sappho's Fables (Lesbian Fairy Tales!) series, is released today! Braided is a lesbian version of Rapunzel~ <3

Braided, at its very core, is about overcoming impossible odds, finding the courage to change your world, your fate...even your curses, with love. "Rapunzel" has always been a favorite of mine, and retelling this story has been an absolute joy to me. <3 I hope you enjoy~

Zelda is cursed to spend her days on a platform in an ancient, holy tree, growing her hair long enough to touch the ground. But it wasn’t her curse to bear: Gray, the witch’s daughter, was meant for that lonely fate. Gray visits Zelda each day, mourning their switched fates, and falling deeper in love with the cursed girl, until one night, at the Not-There Fair, an extraordinary creature outlines a magical plan that could set both of them free. Will Gray’s love for Zelda be strong enough to survive the strange dream world of Chimera, or will Zelda remain a prisoner of the curse forever?

As a writer, I always have to be open and listening to the story, my intuition and my fans. Out of every single one of the novels/novellas I've written, One Solstice Night is the most vocal favorite among readers--this means that while The Dark Wife sells a lot more than it, when people read One Solstice Night, they usually vocalize how much they enjoyed it to me, which is just such a pleasant surprise, each time I get an email or tweet--people love Isabella and Emily, and have been clamoring for the sequels I hinted at.

I have many, many ideas for further adventures and stories for them...so last night, when I came home and spoke with Jenn about the conundrum of the covers, and SHE didn't have a clear favorite either (and while there was a clear favorite among those of you who answered, it was only by a LITTLE that it was favored and everyone STRONGLY LIKED THE ONE THEY LIKED), I threw up my hands and declared THAT IS IT. WE SHALL USE BOTH OF THEM, and I shall ADD ANOTHER STORY because I've been wanting to add one more story before the wedding ANYWAY. And, right there and then, Jenn and I swung a portion of the story AFTER the wedding (WHICH MADE NO SENSE TO BE AFTER A WEDDING, I love when I do things like this to myself :P) to BEFORE, and you have WHAT FOLLOWS HERE--books two AND three of the Benevolence Tales. <3

I feel so effing good about it all--it finally feels right, and less cramped in the saga having everything shifted, and I'm so appreciative to everyone who gave their input and told me how excited they are about the sequels! :) <3 (And, forever, forever, FOREVER grateful for Jenn. <333333333)

AND, Jenn and I finally finished writing the description for One Beltane Morning last night--which I have also placed below. <3

Book TWO:

Isabella Fox, not-so-great witch for hire, may be terrible at spells but lucky in love. Bewitched last Solstice by the beautiful shapeshifter, Emily, Isabella is determined to turn over a new leaf: no more mediocrity. Her spells will actually work from now on--or so she hopes.

As Beltane, the annual May Day celebration, fast approaches, the sleepy town of Benevolence begins to come alive with magic, mirth, and revelry, culminating in a visit from a host of faeries and their queen. Which would be positively charming, save for the oft-overlooked fact that most faeries have only one thing in mind: mischief.

When the faeries' merrymaking turns malevolent, Isabella finds herself in over her head. Can one mediocre witch keep Benevolence from harm, or will a simple misunderstanding destroy the town she's come to love?

The novella "One Beltane Morning" is a magical lesbian love story, and the second in THE BENEVOLENCE TALES series.

Book THREE:

Description coming soon. IT INVOLVES THE FAERIE QUEEN. <3
